Travel is one of the largest and most emotionally resonant categories of consumer and business spend, yet the infrastructure behind travel and loyalty remains highly brittle. Even with decades-old infrastructure and cumbersome UX, large financial institutions like American Express, Capital One, and Chase have each driven tens of billions of dollars in annual payment volume through embedded travel experiences, proving that travel is one of the most powerful engagement levers for retention and spend.
These businesses primarily rely on legacy, white-labeled consumer portals that were never designed for the modern travel experience and require years-long implementation cycles and hefty upfront fees, leaving the vast majority of banks, credit unions, FinTechs, and travel platforms unable to justify the product expansion even with the significant upside. This problem has only been exacerbated by the explosion of travel loyalty plans, dynamic pricing, and an increasingly complex and fragmented inventory of travel experiences.
Today, the gap between what partners need and what legacy systems can deliver is massive, which ultimately led us to Odynn.
Odynn has built a neutral, API-first infrastructure that lets financial institutions, FinTechs, loyalty platforms, and travel brands embed travel search, booking, and rewards directly inside their own products. Instead of a one-size-fits-all, monolithic solution, Odynn is modular out of the box for partners, enabling them to choose the components they want, tailor the experience to their brand and customer segments, and retain ownership of the customer relationship and data. Beyond the flexibility around the user experiences Odynn can offer, the Company has built its technology with loyalty at the forefront. The product can seamlessly aggregate balances, statuses, and constraints, enabling cash, points, and blended redemptions to be evaluated side by side, restoring transparency and confidence to a system that has become increasingly opaque. For partners, this translates into higher engagement and better unit economics. For users, it turns loyalty from a frustration back into an asset.
Strengthened by the travel inventory, loyalty data, and transaction workflow Odynn sits on, the platform can power agentic experiences like conversational trip planning, automated booking, and many other AI features that consumers have been imagining since the launch of ChatGPT. The long-standing consumer hope of typing, “Plan me a beach trip for July 4th that optimizes my Delta status and Hilton rewards for under $1,000”, is now achievable through Odynn.
What the product delivers today, combined with the exciting possibilities of what it can accomplish in the future, has attracted major customers like Bilt, a leading consumer FinTech, and travel platforms like The Points Guy. These are sophisticated buyers with real scale, and Odynn has earned their trust by delivering meaningful outperformance relative to the legacy vendors they have replaced. Looking ahead, the Company has exciting, upcoming deployments with major international financial institutions, emerging FinTechs, and business travel platforms.
Most importantly, we felt like this was a team we had to work with. John Taylor Garner, the Company’s CEO, and Anuj Patel, the Company’s CTO, had independently identified a similar set of problems within the industry and were building consumer-first travel loyalty optimization products, while studying at Penn. After meeting, the two realized they should join forces and build a business-first solution that enabled any organization to launch a travel offering. John Taylor, Anuj, and Bruce Garner, the Company’s COO, have quickly gained significant credibility within the industry as a team to partner with and have brought on talent from major travel companies like Expedia, Hopper, Ascenda, and Duffel to achieve their goals.
Few product categories shape engagement and spend in financial services as much as travel, but only when the underlying infrastructure is built to support it. Odynn has built a platform that gives partners real flexibility, ownership, and control to drive highly differentiated, modern, AI-driven experiences for their users. We’re excited to publicly welcome Odynn to the Bonfire portfolio and support their team as they work to reshape how travel and loyalty function across financial services.
